Touring Egypt
Egypt is well known throughout the globe for its ancient civilization and the majestic pyramids. Pyramids have earned themselves a rightful place in the Seven Wonders of the World and is a must see attraction in Egypt.
The country of Egypt is mostly made up of deserts, an extension of the great Sahara. The river Nile that flows across Egypt provides with a fertile valley other than which everything is a desert. Thus giving rise to the saying “Egypt is the gift of the Nile”. Egypt prides itself in one of the most ancient and advanced civilizations known to man. Egypt prospered under golden rule of the pharaoh’s giving rise to many inventions.
If you are planning to tour Egypt you should be aware of its landscape that is mostly surrounded by deserts and the extremely hot climate. I am listing out some of the most famous tourist attractions in Egypt.
• Valley of the Kings:
The Valley of the Kings is rightfully known as one of the greatest archaeological finds in the history. The Valley of the Kings is behind the west bank of the Luxor river.This valley contains the tombs of the sons of the Great king Ramses II. The tomb of Tutankhamun one of the sons of Ramses is most well known and a highly tourist frequented site. Most of the treasures have been to moved to the Cairo National museum and are in exhibit there.
• Cairo:
Cairo is the capital of Egypt and the biggest metropolitan city in African continent. Egyptian Antiquities Museum is a must see place in Cairo. It boasts of countless Egyptian artificats.The museum contains some of the most beautiful creations made by man like the golden funerary mask of pharaoh Tutankhamun. The city hosts many other attractions like the Islamic masterpieces and the Khan al-Khalili bazaar.
• Alexandria:
Alexandria is the second largest city in Egypt found by Alexander the Great. The Light house of Alexandria or pharaohs was one of the highest buildings in the world second to the great pyramids. The Library of Alexandria was one of the oldest and largest libraries in the world.
• Abu Simbel:
The beautiful temples of Abu Simbel are dedicated to the great king Ramses II. You have daily flight services from the capital city Cairo. The must see places are The Great temple of Ramses II and Temple of Hathor which leave you with a lasting impression.
• El Giza:
The most famous pyramids of Giza and Sphinx one of the Seven Wonders of the World is located just downtown of Cairo. The Great Pyramid of Giza also known as the Pyramid of Khufu is the oldest of the Seven Wonders and the only one to remain largely intact. It remained for more than 3800 years as one of the tallest man made structure in the world.
• Temple of Karnak:
As opposed to the grandness in decoration of the Valley of the Kings, Karnak is all about the size. The temples are arranged into three precincts build to house the gods. The most impressive of these with huge and imposing statues is the Temple of Amun.
